Dined here in August, and the food is great. Try the pizzas, especially the Macellaio if you like sausage. The Mixed Salad was also quite good, as was the Calamari appetizer.

One thing that should be said is that since this place is in the middle of the meatpackin district, it is in demand, and therefore you are going to have to deal with serious attitude at the door. They place a large black man with a wannabe secret service earpiece in his ear outside the front door. We did not make reservations, and I dont know if they take them.

The lady told us 30 minutes, please wait at the bar. Standard stuff, to make you buy overpriced drinks first and then sit down. Every place does it.

What happened next was truly SLEAZY. The large black man came up to us and said "How long did she say it would be?" I said 30. He said "Let me see if I can do something about that for you." And I thought, "oh shit, I am not going to bribe this thug to get a table."

Sure enough, he walks back and says, "I have a table free for you, follow me." The table had been free even when we first showed up, so I was not impressed. Anway, I consulted my group, and they wanted to pay the bribe. So we did, but only AFTER we were seated. I gave the thug $20 for his "efforts."

Anway maybe it was worth it, but still SLEAZY
